Pick a Pine Tree by Patricia Toht & Jarvis

Sale Price: £7.19 Original Price: £7.99

Pick a pine tree from the lot – slim and tall, or short and squat! Long straight limbs or branches bent... Mmm! Just smell that piney scent!  From the winner of the V&A Best Illustrated Book 2017 - Alan’s Big, Scary Teeth creator, Jarvis, and author Patricia Toht, comes a beautiful, irresistible Christmas gift book that all begins with … picking a pine tree! Brimming over with the excitement of being with family at the festive season, a gorgeously rhythmical, read-aloud narrative accompanied by warm, joyful art celebrates all the familiar rituals of decorating the tree – from digging out jam-packed boxes of trimmings, stringing tinsel, to, at last, turning on those twinkly fairy lights.

What we say: Picking a Christmas tree is one of my favourite festive family traditions.  The smell immediately transports me back through Christmases past and all the emotions too!  I am a nightmare though and this book doesn't seem to depict a wife asking her husband 57 times for 57 different trees 'Do you think there are too many bare bits at the top?  Are there any brown needles that we can't see?  What does the other side look like?  Is it too big/skinny/short/wide?' There was one year the lovely staff at the Christmas Tree Farm asked if we had also been the day before to look at trees as it felt as if we had been there forever!  Anyway, I digress.  This is the book you want to read when the tree goes up because it is delightful!
